Birchwood Park -
The BU13 Predators came out looking for their first win after being promoted for the second time in as many seasons. The boys came out strong but slightly erratic. Once they found their rhythm there was no holding them back. The offense continued to pound the penalty area with through balls and good shots. They finally broke through in the 33rd minute when Andrew Albertelli drove in on goal and took a fantastic shot that the keeper initially saved but didn’t hold onto. The ball came directly to the foot of max Hofstetter on the left wing who calmly collected it and drilled it upper 90 for the first goal of the game. The boys were now revved up and not wanting to give up a late goal kept the ball in the final 3rd of the field. Just before time expired for the half the predators drew a foul in the center of the field 30 yards out. Chris Corio had the green light to put the ball on frame, unluckily he hit the cross bar but for the Predators good fortune the ball came directly to Anthony Orlando who was following up and place a well struck volley into the open net. The Predators came out in the second half with even more intensity getting a quick strike that sailed just over the bar. The defense supported the offense with timely runs and crosses into the box, one of which came off the foot of Alex Glancy in the 45th minute to Matt McLilly who redirected the ball into the net in front of the keeper. The Predators put the game away in the 52nd minute when Anthony Orlando played a well struck shot towards the back post that was just going wide, however Max Hofstetter made a smart run towards the back post and chested the ball across the line. There were many good offensive chances during the game for our opponent, but the back four for the Predators denied every chance. Matt Linden made 7 great saves and Alex Glancy helped to keep the sheet clean when he headed the ball away at the goal line late in the game.
