The Predators went on the road to Center Moriches and played a solid game. Brian Duarte scored unassisted on a ball bouncing around in the penalty area as the defense tried frantically to clear it from danger. Chris Corio set up Sammy Ahmed’s first of three goals off a set piece from just inside half field. A beautifully played ball over the defense came down just inside the penalty area where Sammy would play a volley which seemed to hang in the air for an eternity before coming down behind the keeper’s line. The Predators would go into the half up 2-0. Sammy would score again in the 32nd minute on a pass from Ayden Caldea, and rounded out the hat-trick in the 49th minute, on a feed from Jake Grover. Once again Matt Linden who was not called on often in this contest kept the sheet clean. But this day was not all about soccer, over shadowing the contest marked the return of Alex Glancy who has been battling back from Guillain- Barre Syndrome, he contracted in January. Alex, not yet fully recovered entered the game in the 24th minute on the left wing to a roar of cheers and ovations from his teammates, Deer Park parents and the opposing coach who was familiar with his situation. Alex put in a good shift and was happy to be back on the pitch with his best friends and teammates. The Predators will be in action home at Birchwood for the second round of the Long Island Cup this Saturday 4/12 at 3pm.
