The BU16 Deer Park Talons came ready to play defeating the FC Blazers of Massachusetts 5-0 in their first NERP game of the day on Saturday. The Talons scored in the first minute when Frank Cresciullo took a shot from distance and Tyler Rodriguez was there to tap in the rebound off the goalies hands to take the early lead. They didn’t stop there as they scored an additional three goals in the first eight minutes of play. The team was sharp and relentless for the entire game, scoring another second half goal and wining 5-0.
In the second NERP game of the day the Talons took on Nordic SC, the second ranked team in Vermont. Again the Talons opened up scoring in the second minute of play when they quickly countered and Tyler Rodriguez beat the goalie on a breakaway. Thomas Amato scored the second goal of the game and what would be the game winner when he cut in from the left flank and ripped a shot in the side netting. Nordic scored in the second half and continued to put pressure on the Talons, but they were able to hold on for the 2-1 win. The Talons played some of their best soccer this weekend and look to keep the momentum going as they take on Yonkers United on Saturday in the final game of the ENY State Cup group play.
